What Are Fixed Dentures on Implants?

Fixed dentures on implants, also known as implant-supported dentures, are a revolutionary tooth replacement option that offers a permanent solution for those missing all of their teeth in one jaw or both. Unlike traditional removable dentures, these dentures are securely anchored to dental implants that are surgically placed into the jawbone. This creates a strong, stable foundation that closely mimics the feel, function, and appearance of natural teeth.

Advantages of Fixed Dentures on Implants

Permanent Stability

A key benefit of fixed dentures on implants is their stability. Once secured, they won’t shift or move, eliminating worries about slipping while eating or speaking.

Improved Comfort

Fixed dentures are attached to implants, not resting on the gums like traditional dentures. This provides a more comfortable, irritation-free, and natural fit.

Enhanced Chewing Efficiency

Fixed dentures on implants let you enjoy a wide variety of foods without restrictions. Their stability allows for efficient chewing, supporting a healthy diet.

Natural Aesthetics

Our fixed dentures are custom-designed to match your natural teeth, ensuring a seamless appearance. The implant support also helps preserve your facial structure by reducing jawbone resorption.

Are You a Good Candidate for Fixed Dentures on Implants?

Fixed dentures on implants are an excellent option for individuals who:

  • Are missing all or most of their teeth in the upper or lower jaw.
  • Experience discomfort or difficulty with traditional removable dentures.
  • Want to prevent jawbone deterioration and maintain facial structure.
  • Seek a long-term, durable solution for tooth loss.

To determine if you are a suitable candidate, we invite you to schedule a free consultation at Collingwood Dentures. Our expert denturists will assess your oral health, discuss your goals, and help you decide if fixed dentures on implants are the right choice for you.

Our Fixed Dentures on Implants Process

1. Comprehensive Consultation

Your journey starts with a thorough consultation at our Collingwood clinic. We’ll assess your oral health, discuss and coordinate with an agreed upon Surgical Dentist or Oral Surgeon who will perform the appropriate scans and diagnostics to ensure you are a candidate for dental implants.

2. Custom Denture Design

If you’re a suitable candidate, the next step is to design and fabricate your new customized smile. This initial prosthetic will be worn temporarily during your implant healing period. We work with you to ensure your ideal aesthetics are captured.

3. Precision Implant Placement

Once we’ve created your new smile, your dental implants will be placed by a skilled Dental Surgeon, and your new teeth secured, often in the same day!  During the next several months of your healing period, while your implants are integrating with the bone, you will be wearing your fixed non-removable temporary denture and avoiding the inconvenience of being without teeth while your gums heal.

4. Final Phase – Secure Attachment

Once your implants are fully integrated, your final set of custom dentures will be made and  reinforced, then securely attached to the implants, providing a permanent solution. We’ll ensure a perfect fit so you can enjoy your new smile with confidence.
